A loan of $750 helped to buy toys wholesale.

Emerita's story

Emerita, aged 52, is a charismatic, resilient woman who wants to continue to grow her business. She is married to Marcos, who is an employee. Her children no longer live with her; they are independent. Now it is just Emerita and her husband living in the home they bought together.

Emerita sells books for a living. In order to do this she has a store set up in her own home. This way, she saves on rental costs. The store is very popular with local residents as well as people who are passing through. They all receive a warm welcome from Emerita.

The bookstore has been operating for 9 years. During this time it has become very well-known and popular. Emerita’s husband helps out by serving customers when he has a spare moment.

What Emerita likes about her work is the fact that it has made her very prominent in her local area and that it gives her an income which gives her the peace of mind of being able to provide for her little children. She says she chose this occupation because she needed to practice a trade and feel productive. For that reason, she would really like to continue in her line of work and expand her business.

This would be Emerita’s sixth loan with the organisation MFP. She feels very at ease with the group she works in. She knows the people very well, as they have been working together for a long time, and she feels that they are responsible people, which makes her want to remain in the group.

Emerita will use the loan of 2000 PEN to buy a variety of different toys at wholesale price. She believes that her business will be more popular if it offers a variety of products.
