Arturo is from Gango, Ozamiz City. He is 45 years old. Arturo is married and has one school-aged child.
To make a living, he owns and operates a business selling buko juice (young coconut water). He has been engaged in his business for 4 years and earns 15,000 PHP a month from these activities.
In 2009, Arturo joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve his living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Arturo is requesting a new loan of 35,000 PHP which will be used to purchase the raw ingredients needed to make his product. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of his family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
