A loan of $1,125 helped to buy fertilizer and to hire day laborers.

Octavia's story

Octavia, 38, lives with Revelino, 32, in their own house with their 4-year-old daughter, Yaneri, that she wants a better future for. Octavia has always liked to be different from her competition with respect to price, quality and customer service. She’s been farming cocoa beans for 20 years and feels happy with her accomplishments since she aspires to great things like expanding her plantations into other strategic locations to sell her harvests from her fields direct to wholesalers thus minimizing product transportation.

Every morning she awakens with the same energy and together with her spouse they head for their worksite to care for their field. In general, they work all day and only rest on weekends which they dedicate completely to their daughter although during vacation periods she helps her out. During harvest season, she hires day laborers to bring in the harvest in the shortest possible time.

This will be MFP loan #3 and she commits to be punctual with her installment payments. She’s grateful to her communal bank for the transparency and honesty they operate with. She will use the requested 3000 new soles to provide crop maintenance . She will weed and fertilize to improve the harvest in future months.
