A loan of $375 helped to pay laborers.

Loyda's story

Loyda is 39 years old. She is a hard working tenacious woman, as well as being friendly and happy. She has been separated from her partner for 2 years. She is both father and mother of her children who are 20, 17, 14 and 11 years old and who she loves vey much. They live in her own home. Loyda works primarily in the cultivation of cassava since this region is conducive to this crop. She has a 20 hectare plot of land that she bought with her former partner 13 years ago.

Currently she has a production of 5 hectares of cassava planted and she is selling her crop in the markets of the capital city and in other cities having sufficient acceptance and demand. But she would not finish her work rapidly without the help of 2 laborers that she hires, paying a wage of 20 soles a day. She likes her farming life since from from the time of being a young child she has lived in this environment and she is accustomed and comfortable in it.

She says she choose this field because she did not have the opportunity to finish her studies, and seeing the good results she has she plans on continuing and maintaining it.

This will be her 2nd loan with MFP and she feels happy with the financial help that she has received to move forward with her work. Also, she feels happy with the communal bank because she knows almost everyone and has good relationships with them. With the money she is asking for she will use 1000 soles to invest cultivating her land in order to prepare for the planting of more hectares of cassava and do this she would contract laborers.
