A loan of $500 helped to buy plastic goods.

Fouisseyni's story

Fouisseyni was born in 1979 in Sanzana in Sikasso prefecture. He is married and father to one boy, and he lives in a traditional family in Loulouni (the Republic of Mali's third administrative region).

He has been running a business buying and selling kitchenware and various other articles, all plastic, for more than six years. His experience in this field has earned him a good reputation and he receives orders notably for cups, plates, kettles, buckets and bathtubs etc. In order to have the necessary resources to satisfy customer demand he began his collaboration with the microfinance institution, Soro Yiriwaso, more than three years ago. He is now on his sixth loan and all five previous loans were repaid in full.

This loan will enable him to buy plastic cups, kettles, plates, bathtubs and ladles. He gets his supplies in Sikasso. Once they have been transported to Loulouni, the goods are stored in his shop. He resells them for cash and on credit to a customer base made up of men and women in Loulouni and the surrounding villages.

With this loan he is expecting to make an average monthly profit of 70,000FCFA. This profit will allow him to repay the interest on his loan and the rest will be invested in his business.
