A loan of $800 helped to purchase baskets for collecting coffee, pay laborers for the harvest, and pay for transport in order to bring his harvest to market..

Jose Gabino's story

Jose, age 59, resides in the municipality of Patuca. His family is comprised of his wife, who dedicates herself to housework, and their two children, who go to school.

Jose began working when he was very small. He recalls that he did not much like going to school, and he used to leave in order to go to a neighbor’s coffee farm to help with the work. As time passed, Jose involved himself more in the coffee business, and when he became an adult he decided to begin his own coffee farm. Currently, he has 38 acres of planted land.

With the support of this loan, Jose will be able to buy baskets for collecting coffee, pay laborers for the harvest, and pay for transport in order to bring his harvest to market. With the support of this loan he hopes to increase his earnings and in this way improve the economy of his household. This is his first loan with FAMA and he hopes to make all his payments on time.
