A loan of $1,400 helped to purchase more items to sell.

Mahmud's story

Mahmud is a supportive father of four and the owner of a great little store that carries just about everything: fruits and vegetables, household items, cleaning supplies, personal care products, cosmetics, paper supplies - basically everything one might need in his Iraqi town's neighborhood.

In the past, Mahmud applied for, received and successfully repaid two loans from Relief International-Iraq. With the previous loans, he was able to purchase a freezer and a refrigerator, enabling him to carry fresh and frozen food items.

Mahmud now took a loan of $1,400 USD from RI-Iraq to keep up the status of his store and keep providing more to his customers. The loan will enable him to carry more items and ensure a steady income for him and his family.

Based on the political and social challenges of lending in Iraq, personally identifiable information about this borrower has been altered for their protection. RI-Iraq appreciates Kiva lenders' consideration of these challenges and encourages lenders to continue their support for Iraqi borrowers.
