Jossias's story

Jossias was born in Boane District, Maputo Province in southern Mozambique. He is married and has five children who still go to school. Jossias only finished first grade and did not continue because his parents could not afford it. He lives in his own house with his family and does not support anyone else.

Jossias has had his own business for more than ten years. He sells a variety of products from the yard of his house, and he earns about 5,500 meticais per month. He uses the money for household expenses and saves some in his bank account.

He has never had loans from other banks. He learned about Hluvukut through a friend who is also a customer of this institution. This is Jossias' fourth Hluvuku loan. He is asking for 10,000 meticais so he can buy products (rice, pasta, flour, sardines and other items) to increase his inventory. The previous loans were for 6,000 meticais, 7,000 meticais and 8,000 meticais, all used for the same activity.

Jossias promises to make his payments on time. He intends to expand his business one day and also buy some cattle to raise. In order to do those things, Jossias intends to ask Hluvuku for more loans.
