Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $575 helped to buy construction materials (cement, sand, etc.) for his house.

Naftal's story

Naftal was born in the city of Maputo. He is 29 years old and finished the tenth grade. He lives in his own home and is married. He doesn't have children, and he supports his parents financially.
He's has worked in the healthcare industry as a driver for 8 years. He uses his monthly wages to cover household expenses and to continue building his house, which because of rising prices is still unfinished. This is his fourth loan with Hluvuku, in the amount of 15,000 meticals, which he will use to finish the basic parts of his house. His previous loans (in the amounts of 10,000, 10,000, and 35,000 meticals) were also used for the construction.
In the future, he would like to furnish the house and become an important businessman.
