A loan of $400 helped to buy winter clothing.

Ernestina's story

49-year-old Ernestina has been living in a 'colonia popular' (urban poor and working-class neighborhood) for 15 years. She is a very enterprising woman and has set up an area in her home where she sells used clothing such as ladies' blouses, pants, bags, men's shirts and children's clothing. She sells every day as this is her main source of income. Her husband is working in the USA and it is very complicated for Ernestina to have to depend completely on her husband's income. Life is becoming more expensive and when Ernesta lost her job, she had to wait for her husband to get settled so that she could receive an income from him. This was her main motivation to start her business. She has been working in her business for four years and she needs support so that she can buy seasonal merchandise such as jackets, pants, sweatshirts, sneakers, scarves and a wider range of products.
