Tomasa's story

Tomasa was born in Urubamba province and lives in the village of Rumichaca Baja. This village is located in Urubamba district, Urubamba province, Cusco department, Peru.

Tomasa is 43 years old, married, and has five children from this beautiful relationship. She works in a hotel, cleaning, tidying and doing laundry. She works full time, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, from Monday to Sunday. She has been working for three years and is doing very well. Tomasa also raises animals such as hens and guinea pigs. On this occasion, she needs a loan to buy more animals such as guinea pigs, and to pay for her children's education. Tomasa's dream is to open a grocery store.

Tomasa is a member of the 'Los Girasoles de Rumichaca Baja' (Sunflowers of Rumichaca Baja) community bank. This group has 19 members who live in the village of Rumichaca Baja. This is where they carry out their business activities.
