A loan of $575 helped to buy sewing machine needles, thread and fabric.

Lely's story

Lely, 50, is a hard-working, determined woman who is kind and cordial. She is married to Elías, a dental technician, and they live with their 17-year-old daughter and two grandchildren, ages 15 and 12, in the comfort of their own home. Lely is a seamstress and make women's, men's and children's clothing in the styles they request. She began with a sewing machine that she bought with a loan through MFP that she set up in her home, where she attends to her customers in a kind, cordial manner. She studied sewing at a vocational education center and has been able to build her business and buy three machines. Her daughter is also studying to be a seamstress. She enjoys her work and the extra income which she uses to help her husband cover household expenses. Seeing that her business is popular and earns a profit she wants to continue with it, while also opening a fast food business at night, selling roasted chicken and salchipapas (sausage and potatoes). This is her sixth loan through MFP. She is counting on your support so she can carry out her plans. She is comfortable with her communal bank because she feels the members are all responsible. The 1,500 PEN loan she requested will be used to buy sewing materials such as sewing machine needles, thread, fabric and other items.
