Ela Carmela's story

Ela is a single woman who is 27 years of age. She has been preparing and selling cakes, snacks, and other foods for more than eight years alongside her mother and sister. Over time, Ela has demonstrated great interest in improving the service she provides in her business. For this reason, she currently makes decorations for events in addition to selling cakes. Thanks to her effort and dedication, Ela has been able to earn 64 PEN each day, which enables her to cover her monthly expenses. This includes preparing cakes and her personal expenses.

Ela also manages a grocery store with her mother and sister, which enables them to earn extra income. “One memory I have is when my sister and I prepared a cake with three layers and covered it with icing. The cake fell down by accident and we had to repair it at that moment. Fortunately, everything ended well,” recalls Ela with a laugh.

Thanks to the Kiva lenders, Ela will be able to access more money to help her buy some necessary supplies. As a result of her effort and dedication, she will be able to reach her goal. Ela will provide rental services that offer tables, chairs, tablecloths, and major decorations from the same shop where she sells cakes and snacks. This will enable her have a better quality of life.
