A loan of $1,200 helped to buy seeds, fertilizer and weed killer.

Luz Marina's story

Luz Marina, 51, is married and has no children. She lives with her husband in San Miguel in the province of Bolívar. Her communal bank is called "Yagui Chico" which is the name of her community. It is 20 minutes from the San Miguel Canton and agriculture is the source of income for the family. Luz works in the field and takes care of the household. She grows corn and lima beans to sell and to use for home consumption. She buys and sells in San Miguel. She is requesting a loan to invest in her agriculture business and plans to buy seeds, fertilizer and weed killer so she can pay for her childrens' education. The loan will allow her to buy seeds and fertilizer without any problem. Her dream is to buy cropland so she does not have to rent land. Her greatest challenge is lack of water for the crops due to drought. In her free time she enjoys celebrating the "Fiestas del Divino Niño" (Divine Child Festivities).
