A loan of $550 helped to purchase drinks to sell in his grocery store.

Carmelo's story

Carmelo is twenty-eight years old and is married to Demetria. They have one child. He owns a grocery store that is located near a ball field, which helps him have many customers since athletes usually frequent his store to purchase drinks after playing sports.
He says that his wife always helps him with his business. She prepares empanadas, milanesas [schnitzel-style breaded fried meat], and sandwiches which they sell in the store. Their dream is to increase their business, and in this way earn more profits so as to be able to guarantee their son a better future. This is what motivates their efforts.
He has turned to the Fundación to purchase drinks such as dry wines, cider, soda pop, sweets, and beer. In this way he will be able to continue offering his customers a variety of products at a fair price, which will allow him to continue improving his and his family’s quality of life.
