A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase manure, fertilizers, and to pay for labor costs.

Nelson Jesus's story

Nelson Jésus is 60 years old and married with one daughter. He lives with his wife and twenty-three year-old daughter in Ventanas in the Province of Bolívar.

The VRC [Ventanillas Rurales Crédito, or Window to the Countryside Loan] is called Yagui Chico, after the community which is twenty minutes from the Canton of San Miguel, and whose members work in agriculture to provide their families with a source of income.

Nelson works as a farmer to provide his family with a source of income. He mostly cultivates corn, wheat, and potatoes.

His purchases and sales occur mostly in San Miguel. He is requesting the loan to purchase manure, fertilizers, and to pay for labor costs. With the help of the loan he has been able to purchase agricultural products and fertilizers.

His dream is to be able to have the opportunity to purchase land. The challenges he faces are the winds and frost in his crops.

In his free time he likes to play sports, especially volleyball.
