A loan of $550 helped to buy a cow.

Ana María's story

Mrs. Ana is a member of the communal bank "Nueva Amistad". She lives in the Cumbe Parish in Cuenca, a place known for its large cattle ranches, romantic old haciendas and other modern buildings that, while not keeping with traditional architecture, are not out of place and even add variety to the landscape. The people here are kind, polite and traditional and maintain their parents' culture.

Doña Ana is 66, married and has a common-law husband and four children who are all adults, married and live independently. Her husband is a farmer and they live in their own home.

Mrs. Ana raises and sells cattle, guinea pigs, chickens and pigs.

She plans to use the loan to buy a cow. Her goal is to have more livestock.
