Juana's story

Juana was born in the city of Calca, which is located in the Valle Sagrado de los Incas to the northeast of Cusco. She is 57 years old, married, and has two children. She alternates her household chores with her business. She raises small animals such as guinea pigs, hens, and pigs. She has been in this business for 10 years already and it’s going very well. Juana is a hard-working, enterprising woman who gets her family ahead. For example, she is supporting her son who is studying for a law degree at one of the universities in Cusco. At this time, Juana needs the loan to buy balanced feed and protein for her small animals. Juana’s dream is to open a restaurant in her home because many tourists visit the Valle Sagrado de los Incas. Juana is a member of the “Virgen de Asunta de Calca” group, which is comprised of 15 members who live in the city and province of Calca, department of Peru.
