A loan of $1,025 helped a member to purchase chickens and sell them butchered.

La Ceiba (Flat) Group's story

The “La Ceiba” (the silk-cotton tree) group is comprised of five members who are each engaged in different activities. They are located in a small region where there is a very pretty river.

Leticia was interviewed and requested the loan to invest in the purchase and sale of chickens. She has been working on the farm for six years. She says that the business is going well as it has enabled her to significantly improve her family income. She is married to Saúl and they have four children under their care.

She started this business because she wanted to have her own income and help her husband with the household expenses. She decided to sell chickens so that her husband would not have to bear the financial pressure alone. What she wants most from this small business and from the loan that she is requesting, is to be able to buy more chickens and increase her sales so that her customers can buy what they want and her sales are not limited.

The group is comprised of the following members: Leila Yolanda, who will invest the loan in the purchase of Jafra brand products for re-sale; Normaida, who will use the loan to raise chickens for later sale; Elsi, who will purchase chickens and turkeys for re-sale; and Candelaria who will purchase cheese for re-sale.

In this group: Leila Yolanda, Normaida, Esly, Candelaria, Leticia
