A loan of $975 helped to buy an embroidery machine.

Francisca's story

Francisca is president of the Edén Communal Bank from the city of Valparaíso.

She works in different fields, among which are handicrafts and pastry making. As she crochets and paints different items, she is currently painting Nativity scenes for Christmas. As far as the field of pastry making is concerned, she makes empanadas.

She also works taking care of her grandmother a few days a week and she makes prepared lunches because she has lodgers.

She buys her merchandise from different distributors, mainly where the supplies she needs can be found at the lowest price.

She will buy an embroidery machine with this loan.

Her goal is to live off of the income generated by her businesses.

Francisca lives alone and she wants to be able to enjoy her home, as at the moment she is renting. Her dream is to buy a fryer for one of her businesses.

She tells us that she is very happy and thankful for the opportunity Fondo Esperanza has offered her to invest in her business, as she has been able to increase her sales and her income. Furthermore, the training she has received has contributed greatly to her business' growth.

Valparaíso is located 120 km. northeast of Santiago. It is the region's capital and it is also the seat of the country's legislative power. It is the nation's biggest port and it offers a great variety of beautiful, picturesque places, such as the house of the poet Pablo Neruda, winner of the Nobel Prize.
