A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase a motorbike for her children to commute to work.

Ley's story

Ley, 46, is married and resides with her husband and three children in Takeo Province, Cambodia. She also looks after her father and nephew.

Ley’s husband is a motor taxi driver. She used to be a farmer, but because she earned so little, she changed her work. Since 2001 she has wrapped sticky-rice cakes to sell at the market.

Two of Ley’s children are employed in a garment factory. Since the factory is far from home, she is requesting a loan of 1200 USD to purchase a motorbike for them to commute to work.

In the future, Ley plans to run a poultry farm to generate more income to support the family, build a kitchen and support her children in their studies until they both earn Bachelor’s degrees.
