A loan of $1,100 helped to buy groceries, fruit, and energy drinks.

Angela Santos's story

The Communal Bank Honduras 2000 meets twice a month in the canton of Jaramijo (Manta). This place is known for its beautiful beaches that line the coast of this beautiful place. Here most of the people are very hard workers involved in maritime pursuits.

Angela is a founding member of the Community Bank and she likes it because she has received a lot of help and happiness as they have fun at each meeting. She is 66 years old, married and has 16 children. All of them are adults but she has two unmarried daughters living in her home. Her husband is a fisherman.

She is a fighting woman who has never tired of work. She has been working in a sardine company in her hometown for more than 30 years, but besides this she has a stand where she sells snacks and drinks such as natural juices, smoothies, energy drinks, and other things. Her daughters help her with this business. She works every day from 6:00PM until 10:00PM in her stand and she works Monday through Friday from 8:00AM until 4:00PM at the sardine company. She has been in business for 11 years and things are going very well. She began her business with the first loan that she received from the communal bank.

She will use the money from this loan to buy groceries, fruits, and energy drinks.

Her dreams are to have good health and to carry on.
