A loan of $675 helped to buy tools for her husband's carpentry business.

Shirley Marisol's story

Sra. Shirley is a member of the Communal Bank “Mi Bankito” (My Little Bank). She lives in the city of Cuenca, which is known for the beauty of its historical center. The city is surrounded by four rivers, thus giving it the nickname “Santa Ana of the Four Rivers”. The people are friendly and have maintained the culture and traditions of their ancestors.

Doña Shirley is 23 years old, in a common-law relationship, and has three children (ages 5, 3, and 2). Her oldest child attends a school in the city. Shirley’s husband works in a carpentry workshop that he owns. They do not own a home, so they live in a rental property.

Shirley takes care of the household chores and looks after her children. She is receiving her sixth loan from the Communal Bank and will invest in the purchase of tools for her husband’s carpentry business. Her goal is to finish her college studies.
