A loan of $1,700 helped a member buy a net.

Nuevo Amanecer De Huatajata Group's story

The “NEW DAWN OF HUATAJATA” cooperative will start its first cycle with Pro Mujer. As part of the focal center of Copacabana, it is comprised of ten members, and led by a management board of which Remedios is president. The businesses that the members of the cooperative carry out are varied, but among them we have: fish sales, vegetable sales, livestock sales, charque (dried llama meat) sales, potato sales.

Remedios indicates that this is the first time they are working with Pro Mujer, and that she joined the institution through the invitation of a promoter. Currently, she has a business selling fish that she has had for years, having learned the trade from her family.

The loan that she will now take out is for the purchase of a net for catching the fish she will acquire from La Paz, and then sell in the markets. This form of work permits her to generate the income to support her family, as she is married and they have four children.

In this group: Remedios, Elizabeth, Nora Celia, Silvia Eugenia , Rogelio, Edwin, Nogardo, Betza , Dionisia , Juana
