A loan of $750 helped to buy sacks of organic fertilizer.

Melania's story

59 year old Melania has lived with Ignacio for more than 27 years. They have three children who live independently. Melania and Ignacio live together in their own house in Santa Rosa de Palomar in the district of San Luis de Shuaro, in the province of Chanchamayo. Melanie began working in the fields 30 years ago. In all this time she has learnt what she needs to know to successfully sell her produce (coffee and bananas). She sees her sacrifices pay-off when she sells her goods to the wholesalers, who visit the area all the time, and she makes a good profit. She also has the support of her husband, who sells fish to door-to-door in the town. And the goods that are sold in the market are a result of her labors in the field. Thanks to her hard work, she has been able to extend her house, adding more rooms for her children to stay in when they go to visit. In time, she hopes to improve her fields and plant much more coffee. She belongs to the community bank "Aroma de Café" and this is her 5th loan from MFP. She promises once again to make her repayments on time, as she has done with earlier loans. She is glad to be part of the community bank because all the members are responsible and united. When she receives her loan, Melania will use it to buy sacks of organic fertilizer so that her coffee plants will grow without any great difficulty.
