A loan of $450 helped to buy bags of organic fertilizer.

Wilfredo's story

Wilfredo is 34 years old. Five years ago he joined his life with Medalit, the mother of his two children, Jean and Manuel. Wilfredo and his family live in his mother’s house, in the town of Alto Sanchirio, in the district of San Luis de Shuaro, in the province of Chanchamayo.

He works arduously in the field of agriculture. On his three parcels of productive lands he has planted coffee and bananas. The chores in the jungle are intense, as weeds grow rapidly, and so you have to constantly clear the sown fields. He also has to fertilize four times a year, spending 1,000 soles each time.

Wilfredo loves his work. From the time he was young he learned to get around in the field. He has more than ten years in this activity and he has faced problems such as pests, bad weather and low prices. But even so he continues working. He is clearing out the tended crops so that later he can make a coffee nursery, which earns 400 to 500 per thousand.

Wilfredo is a tireless man. In his free time he does carpentry work such as burnishing wood and helping out in construction work. So, he is thinking of getting a secondhand car so he can get about from his town to La Merced.

This will be his fifth loan through MFP. He promises to be punctual in his monthly payments. He feels happy and satisfied with the communal bank Aroma de Café. He will use the money from the loan to buy bags of organic fertilizers for the preparation of coffee nurseries.
