Mamuka's story

Mamuka is 54 years old. He lives in the village of Chagan-Chkvishi, West Georgia. Mamuka is married and lives with his family: wife – Leila, a 14-year-old daughter, mother (retired) and younger sister. Leila works as teacher in the village. Mamuka is leading the agricultural business of the family. They have five milk cows and ten calves. The family sells dairy products at the local market. Also they have two pigs and sell, on average, 20 piglets per year. Total average monthly income of the family is 800 Laris, including the pension of Mamuka’s mother.

Mamuka requested credit for construction of a new cattle-shed, as the old one is almost ruined, as it was old. The new cattle-shed will be bigger and Mamuka will be able to raise more calves instead of selling them, in order to increase the amount of milk cows in the farm. The family will get more milk and sell more dairy products. It will help them to improve their living conditions.
