A loan of $575 helped to buy cacao and coffee plants.

Ruben's story

Rubén, 43, lives with his common-law wife, Lourdes, 35, and they have 5 children who all live in their own house where happiness reigns. Rubén is a man who receives a lot of benefits because he performs his work enthusiastically.

He is a farmer and has various crops: cacao and coffee. He has been farming for 16 years and he hires help during harvest time. His income-producing plants are cacao and coffee for which he receives good money for each kilo from the businesses who collect crops from the farmers. The biggest problem of his work is that he can’t fight the insects that infest the fruit of the plants. In the future he hopes to save more money to buy cacao and coffee plants to increase his yield. This will be his first loan with MFP and he feels that it will help him progress in his business. The communal bank is very appreciated by his companions since they all feel very much a part of it. He will use the 1500 new sols to buy cacao and coffee plants to increase his crops.
