A loan of $375 helped to buy cocoa plants.

Nelida's story

Nelida is 32 years old and the single mother of a small son Carlos who is 12 years old. Nelida lives in her parents' house. They support her so that she might excel in the future. Nelida is a very hardworking woman. As a young girl her parents taught her how to work on the farm. Nelida is a rural woman and has her own plot of land where she grows cocoa plants. She has been working her own land for the last 5 years and at harvest time she hires day labourers to make the fruit collection faster. What she likes the best about her work is harvesting the fruits from the plants as she thus feels that all the months of hard work give her in return quality fruits. She thinks that the most diffiuclt thing is to transport her products from the farm to the collection centres located in her area. This will be her 8th loan with MFP. She is willling to to make her repayments on time as she wants to have access to another loan in the future. She is a very supportive member of her communal bank and is always concerned about the well-being of her peers. With the 1,000 nuevos soles (PEN) requested, she will buy cocoa plants so that she can increase her production.
