A loan of $750 helped to buy cacao plants.

Marcelina's story

Marcelina is 27, and a hard-working woman. She lives in her own house with her partner Virgilio who is 29. They have two children; Henry who is eight, and Carlos who is four. They want to provide their children with a better quality of life.

Marcelina works hard on her small farm with her partner. As a result, her crops are well cared for, and when it is time to sell, her products are bought quickly.

Her main source of income is the sale of cacao, the product she grows and harvests. But she knows this work is hard, and that's why she hires day laborers. What she likes best about her work is harvesting her land, as she feels that her work is bearing fruit.

She has been doing this activity for a year, and considers the most difficult part to be protecting her crop from insect infestations, which attack the first shoots mercilessly.

This will be her seventh loan with MFP. She has been very punctual with her previous loans, and works without causing the communal bank any problems. With the 2,000 nuevos soles, she will buy cacao plants, and so be able to increase her production.
