Emerenciana is a member of the communal bank “Despertar,” or “to awaken.” She is 50 years old and has 3 children, and has been a member of Finca for 16 years. She works in transportation and owns 2 vans. Emerenciana began without knowing how to run a business. At Finca, they taught her how and have always supported her.

Her husband had been working carrying vegetables to the forest. With a lot of effort, he was able to purchase a car and a plot of land. When everything was going well for him, he was the victim of fraud. To this day, he is paying off this debt. Finca always supported them and never left them on their own. She really appreciates this and is thankful that they are not far from finishing the payment.

She never stopped working hard. In moments of desperation, she would remember the words of the Black Madonna, “En el camino siempre habrá piedras, pero tú, nunca te detengas”, “On your path, there will always be stones, but you, never let them stop you.” So she didn’t, and now she will use this loan to invest in spare parts and gasoline. Her greatest wish is to have her own fleet of cars.
