A loan of $1,125 helped to plant new coffee crops.

Julio's story

Julio is 32 years old and married to 34 year old Sonia, and they have four children together. They all live happily together in a home of their own, located in the Sivia district. Julio’s a farmer and he says that he learned this skill when he was a boy, thanks to his parents. He learned how to raise coffee, bananas, and cacao, which are the traditional crops. They didn’t make much profit in the past because of the low prices offered by the suppliers, but now these products are their peak, especially the coffee and cocoa, which are in high demand in the marketplace and this makes the farmers happy, especially Julio. Over the past six years he has been increasing his coffee crop, and so his income has increased considerably. Now this presents a better opportunity for his younger children. He’s happy with this job because his family can have all the comforts. This will be his second loan through MFP and he is grateful and is committed to making his payments on time. He will use the 3,000 PEN ($1,125) from this loan to invest in new coffee crops.
