This group was formed thanks to the effort of one of its members, who with the desire to help her friends and neighbors, became informed [about the loan process] and this motivated her to form the commitee. They are hard-working, determined, and very enterprising women, who with a lot of effort and sacrifice fight for their families. One of the members is Blanca, who works in sales. She informs us that she sells all types of products, such as blankets, sheets, and other articles, and that it is going very well for her because she already has well-defined customers who always buy from her. One of her dreams to to be able to have her own place where she could offer her products. She describes herself as a determined, hard-working, and very enterprising woman. She requests the loan in order to purchase blankets, sheets, and other articles to later sell. She thanks the foundation and Kiva for the opportunity that they are giving her.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
