La Alegria Group's story

The Alegría Women’s Committee is in its first loan cycle with the Foundation’s women entrepreneurs program. In this program all the members work together collectively so they can reach their objectives. Each woman works independently but also helps develop activities with the other members to collect funds as working capital for the group.

Sra. Silvia is a member of the group. She earns her living selling food. She always has a lot of customers because her food is much appreciated. Silvia is known as a hardworking enterprising woman who is not afraid of work. Her principal goal is to continue growing her business as each day passes.

Silvia is seeking a loan to buy ingredients for the food she makes and as well to add to her supplies so she can make a greater variety of dishes. As a result she will increase her income and improve her standard of living. Silvia says that her household is greatly benefitting from the income from her business.
