A loan of $700 helped to purchase and insure a dairy cow.

Margaret's story

Margaret is a resident and a farmer in the Kitale area of Western Kenya. She has been in active farming for 10 years besides running a carpentry shop in the local market. She is married with four children, three of whom are of school-going age. Her farm produces maize, milk and vegetables that are sold to the local market.

She has requested a loan of 62,400 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase and insure a dairy cow. She plans to use her income for increasing her dairy business to four dairy cows, and also to buy a motorcycle to supply her produce to the market.

Margaret laments of rampant animal diseases and the shortage of feeds during dry seasons as the major farming challenges.
