A loan of $875 helped to buy fertilizers and agricultural supplies.

Karla Patricia's story

Karla farms pineapple on a small scale, with her family in the Ticuantepe area. Her plan for the future is to improve her living conditions, as despite her financial situation, she is supporting her children, so that they can go to school.

Karla has one hectare planted in pineapple. However, it lacks fertilizers and the agricultural inputs necessary to get good production, and sell at a better price, so that it is feasible for her to make a profit and so diversify her crops.

She is thankful for the support provided by Kiva to women farmers in the rural areas of Nicaragua. They provide an example of how, despite the situation the country is facing, you can still move forward.
