A loan of $375 helped to buy food preparation ingredients and also to buy shoes to sell.

Lucia's story

Lucia, 25, is a good, kind woman. She has a spouse and a one-year-old son. She lives in her spouse’s mother’s house and they educate their son there and wish for a better quality of life for him.

Lucia’s work consists in selling food and beauty products. She begins her day very early going to the market to buy all the ingredients and supplies needed to prepare her delicious Broaster-style chicken, a favorite of her diners, who come by seeking good service and exquisite taste. Besides selling food in the evening she also sells cosmetics and personal care products during the day and in her free time. She’s been working at this pace for a year and feels very happy because she likes her work because she says that she decides what days and what work schedule she’ll use to go out and sell her products. Having two jobs also means double income and this provides better conditions. But it wasn’t always like this. At the beginning it was quite complicated because she didn’t know much about the business. However, in time she improved and now she is very good at what she does. At present, she’s getting ready to expand activities and start to sell shoes and clothes.

This will be her first MFP loan. She is hopeful that she’ll get the support to continue doing her work and reach her goals. On the other hand, she commits to be a punctual client because she has very good references of the group she’s joining because they are very responsible and supportive.

She will use the requested 1000 soles to buy shoes and clothes to start to sell because she’s about to start out in this business. She will also buy ingredients and non-perishable supplies to continue working preparing food to sell.
