A loan of $625 helped to buy more sugar and soap for resale.

Margret's story

Margret is 48 years old and lives in the town of Arua in the Arua region of Uganda. She is married and has three children. For the past year, Margret has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar and soap.

To help expand her business, Margret has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more sugar and soap for resale and will help Margret to generate greater profits and buy food to feed her family. Margret hopes that in the future she will be able to become a wholesale business woman.

Margret is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Margret who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
