A loan of $750 helped to purchase feed for her animals.

Vilma's story

Vilma is a single mother who makes a living raising cattle. This is how she makes enough money to care and provide for everything her 3-year-old son needs. They live in the city of Camaná, in the south of Peru right off the Pacific Ocean. Vilma is a hard-working woman who loves to weave clothing during her free time. It is well known that Peru has some of the most delicious food in the world, and one of the dishes that Vilma likes the most is "Lentejitas." Vilma has raised cattle for many years. She started out helping her parents with the animals, and that's how she came to know in detail how to make her purchases and sales so that in time she can dedicate herself exclusively to the business. With the money she makes she is able to cover all of her expenses. She works approximately 10 hours a day with her cows, which she sells after they have reached a certain level of development. This is why Vilma also makes a living selling cosmetics via catalog to generate extra income to go with her savings from raising livestock. With the help of Kiva lenders, Vilma plans to purchase high-quality feed, which will help her better raise her cows and in this way improve her income in the future so that she can make improvements to her home.
