A loan of $550 helped to buy chicken and animal feed.

Mayra Johanna's story

Mayra is a member of the community bank "El Mirador" (The Overlook). She lives near the parish in Turi, named "Mirador" since from there you can see a large part of the city of Cuenca. The group works in commerce, agriculture, and raising animals. They are known for being nice and polite with all of their visitors.

Mayra is 26 years old, married and has two children aged 10 and 7 who study in a small school in the city. Her husband has migrated to another country for work to help the economic situation of their home. She doesn't have her own house, and lives in the home of relatives. Mayra works doing household chores, taking care of her children and spends the majority of her time raising guinea pigs and chickens.

The community bank is on their third loan cycle, which they will invest by purchasing chickens and chicken feed. Her goal is to have her own store.
