A loan of $5,300 helped to pay for production of gasoline engines for reduced scale models of planes.

Antonio's story

Antonio was grew up in Angola, West Africa and came to the United States in 1983 to seek a degree in Aerospace Engineering and Theoretical Physics. Since then, Antonio has pursued his passion by starting his own business, Authentic Scale, dedicated to the manufacturing of engines for reduced scale models of planes. He sells the exact external replicas of old engines that went out of production 50 years ago. He has gathered a team of engineers and designers from all over the world who are experts in the field.

The first engine was manufactured and assembled in November 2010 and the first sale was made in January 2011. The business started manufacturing methanol engines, but as the price for methanol has significantly increased, Antonio and his team of engineers have decided to introduce a new line of gasoline engines. Gasoline is much cheaper and the engines cost less to manufacture than methanol engines. He is currently the only manufacturer offering these unique engine configurations which will start production in 2012.

The loan will give Antonio the capital he needs for production of the gasoline engines. For Antonio’s next project, he hopes to pursue the production of full-size diesel marine outboard engines. The diesel boat engine will reduce the fuel burned per hour by at least 66%, compared to typical gasoline outboard engines.
