A loan of $4,250 helped to purchase a snow plow and eco-friendly salt.

Lee Ray's story

Lee Ray started his landscaping company in 1993, growing through local and state contracts. His services include lawn maintenance and snow removal. Lee Ray and his five employees serve the people around his neighborhood, mostly consisting of senior citizens. To him, these are the most important clients because he enjoys serving them. One of the biggest challenges for the business has been keeping up with payroll during this tough economic time when people are pulling back on spending. One day, Lee Ray wants to be a distributor and expand into selling lawn equipment, salt, etc, out of his own storefront. This loan from Accion USA will help Lee Ray purchase a special type of snow plow and eco-friendly salt product for the upcoming winter season. Winter is Lee Ray’s busiest time of year because snow removal services are so demanding. This loan has been made as a part of Kiva Detroit and in partnership with Michigan Corps and ACCION USA.
