José is 50 years old and works in the municipality of his district. Before starting with the town he was working in a ceramics business where he learned to do various artisan jobs, drawings in high relief. First he made them in miniature, and little by little he perfected them until he was able to make the designs in a normal size. It was a coworker who inspired him to offer this work to the same municipality. This is how he began doing different works in high relief such as insignias, animals, plants, etc.

This job that he does in his spare time generates additional income for him because several institutions contract with him for this type of work, including restaurants, schools, and other municipalities. Thanks to this he can give his son a better education. Now he wants to dedicate more time to this work.

With his loan he will buy some tools and a pantograph that will help him make the designs that his customers request. His loan will be a big help for this.

José belongs to the Unidos por Alcanzar el Éxito group, which has eight members.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
