A loan of $1,125 helped to buy fabric and an industrial sewing machine.

Raul's story

Raul, 54, lives with his wife and two of their three children, whom they care for in the house they own in Azapampa. For 31 years he has made skirts that are typical of his region which are called faldas plisadas [pleated skirts]. He makes the garments in his own workshop that he set up in his house, together with his wife and one of his relatives who works in the same shop. When they have a lot of orders he hires two more people who work in their own homes, in order to save electricity. He enjoys his work because he learned it from childhood and it has given him some good times with his family.

Because of his many years of experience he has a set clientele who always make orders for the skirts, and he's also always acquiring new customers due to good word of mouth. Now he wants to improve his workshop and equip it to be able to handle orders from other cities.

He's part of the lending group "Heroes al Progreso" and this is his 5th credit with MFP, where he likes knowing that he's part of a group of people that he considers family and from whom he can learn a lot. He promises to be punctual with his payments. On receipt of his loan, Raul will invest the money in the purchase of fabrics and an industrial sewing machine for making his garments.
