A loan of $450 helped to buy sewing supplies such as elastic, fabric, and thread.

Lina's story

47-year old Lina is a lovely friendly woman with three children, one of whom is an adult and the other two are 18 and 14 years old. She has to raise the younger ones by herself as she is separated from their father. She lives in her own home with the children and a granddaughter who is the child of her oldest son.

Lina designs and makes clothing. When customers approach her, she puts aside her own design work and starts on whatever sewing her customers require. However, when she hasn’t any other work on hand, she works on her own designs and creations. She has a small workshop in her home and has been doing this work for 18 years. The income from it has allowed her to educate and feed her family for a long time. She works alone and is very happy as all is going well although from time to time there are setbacks.

When Lina started the business, there were many difficulties such as not knowing how to do the work well. She made some mistakes but learned quickly and became an excellent seamstress. Now she has many clients who bring her a lot of work. She has big plans for the future such as selling her own designs in larger quantities.

This will be Lina’s 18th loan with MFP. She is a founding member of her community bank and is very happy to work for many years with such responsible people who didn't allow the bank to break up. She is also very happy to know that they continue to access loans so they can achieve their goals. Lina promises to pay back the loan money punctually and continue being the responsible client she has always been.

With the S/.1200 loan, she will buy materials for the clothing she makes as well as elastic, fabric and other supplies.
