A loan of $1,125 helped to buy beauty products and clothing.

Julia's story

Julia belongs to the “Mujeres de la Colina II” communal bank, in La Banda de Shilcayo district, in the province of San Martín, in San Martín department.

She is 39, and lives with her partner. She has three children, ages 22, 20, and 8, of whom only the youngest is in her care, and attends primary school.

With three children to support, and with her husband's salary not being enough to pay the household expenses, she decided 12 years ago to sell beauty products by catalogue. She did this with 600 soles of capital. It went well, because of the effort she put into it.

She has been part of the communal bank for four years, which helps her obtain working capital, so that she can start selling new products that her customers need. As well, she has a good clientele, as she provides them with friendly service.

With this loan of 3,000 soles, she will buy natural products, as well as merchandise such as clothing and beauty products for the Christmas sales season.

Julia is an enterprising and hard-working woman. Her dream is to open a spa, where she can apply the knowledge she has been acquiring about the beauty products she sells. This will enable her to continue generating her own income.

Thus she is very grateful for the support she has been receiving from the Movimiento Manuela Ramos, through the loans and the orientation that she receives.
