A loan of $550 helped to buy inventory.

Leticia Liliana's story

The “Camino Al Progreso” meets every two weeks in the city of Montecristi, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and for its arts known nationally and internationally. It’s a place known for its famous straw hats.

Here we meet 25 year old Leticia. She’s married and has two daughters, ages 8 and 7, who attend school. Her husband works as a mason.

She’s works as a housewife and sells Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and accessories for women), in order to earn her own income and be able to help out her husband with the household expenses. She works three days a week, mostly in the mornings while her daughters are in school. This makes it easy for her to make her runs. She sells on credit and collects every two weeks. She’s been doing this for two and a half years and things have gone well for her. She enjoys her work because it doesn’t prevent her from being with her daughters and helping them when they need it.

This loan will be to buy perfumes, creams, and cosmetics so that she can take advantage of the special offers and sales this month. She has been part of the communal bank for two years and she likes it because the loans are easy to get.

Her dream is to provide the best for her daughters.
