A loan of $375 helped purchase medicinal plants and open a small grocery store.

Sixto's story

Sixto is 49 years old and a hard-working, dedicated man. He is also very kind. He is married to Jacqueline, who is a home maker. They live with their 5 children ages 18,16,14,12 and 4 in their own house. Sixto makes and sells medicines made from plants of the Peruvian Amazon rain forest for a living. They are indispensable for diseases such as tumors and internal infections. He prepares them at home and sends them to Puerto Maldonado to his father who then sells them as a street vendor. He learned this craft 18 years ago from his wife's family. He also works as a grounds keeper for a local university to bring in extra income. He likes his business since he is a foreigner here. When he arrived from his homeland Ancash he didn't have an occupation. This provides him with an income to feed his family whom he loves very much. He also has plans to plant a botanical garden of medicinal plants on his small plot of land.

This will be his second loan with MFP. He hopes for your assistance so that he can work out his plans. With the 1000 nuevos soles [Peruvian currency] requested he will buy medicinal plants as he has a pending order to fill. With the balance he wants to open a small grocery store in his home.
