A loan of $325 helped to buy meats and other ingredients for making her meals, at wholesale.

Narlys's story

Narlys serves meals, especially soups, to her neighbors in the municipality of Galapa. She also sells lunches, although in smaller quantities. She lives with her partner, and her seven year-old daughter, and they are the reason for her starting the business.

This is how she helps her husband with the household expenses. Her husband is employed by a company in the city of Barranquilla, where he works in security and has other duties.

Her monthly sales generate a good profit margin, which allows her to contribute a significant amount to the household expenses. Although she has few fixed assets, one of her goals is to set up her business in a permanent location, and to have all the infrastructure of a restaurant.

She wants to grow over time, and this is the reason why she is applying for her credikiva (loan). This is her first loan from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, and she will use it to buy meats and other ingredients for making her meals, at wholesale. Her aim is to obtain greater discounts on her purchases, so that she can reduce her production costs.

She is planning to make this investment in the month of December, when her sales usually increase; she will take advantage of the season to minimize her risks and that is precisely her potential for success.
