A loan of $600 helped to purchase more phones for resale.

Joseph's story

Joseph is 25 years old and lives in the town of Mubende in Uganda. He works hard to manage his small shop, which sells mobile phones, phone accessories, and other electronics.

To help expand his business, Joseph has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more phones for resale, and will help Joseph to generate greater profits and improve his family's standard of living. Joseph hopes that in the future he will be able to construct a house.

Joseph is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Joseph who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
